Ana Maria Gomes

Ana Maria Gomes is Associate Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB-UCP); she is Member of the Direction Board of the Research Center, Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), and member (Vice-President) of the Management Board of Integralar - Knowledge division (PortugalFoods) in representation of ESB-UCP. She holds a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Coimbra, and a PhD in Biotechnology (Food Science and Technology) from ESB-UCP (1999). She leads the Nutrition and Health Lab at CBQF, and her research interests focus functional foods - added-value and sustainability; valorization of marine resources; bioactive lipids characterization and biological validation; microencapsulation; pro/prebiotics, microbiome and health. She has demonstrated track record of national and international collaborative research activities, including project coordination (+30 projects), research communication (+160 papers/chapters; 4 patents; +300 oral/poster communications) and outreach activities, evaluation committees, lecturing and student supervision (finalized +30 MSc and 8 PhD theses).
