Graduated in Dietetics from the University of Algarve, completed his MSc in Epidemiology from NOVA Medical School and his PhD in Medicine & Biosciences from Cranfield University. Teaches at the School of Health of the University of Algarve since 2004. Is currently the director of the Dietetics and Nutrition degree and the coordinator of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology research group of the Centre for Health Studies and Development at the University of Algarve.

Licenciado em Dietética pela Universidade do Algarve, mestre em Epidemiologia pela Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa e doutor em Medicine & Biosciences pela Cranfield University, em Inglaterra, é docente da Escola Superior de Saúde da Universidade do Algarve (ESSUAlg) desde 2004. É diretor do curso de licenciatura em Dietética e Nutrição da ESSUAlg e coordenador da linha de investigação em Bioestatística e Epidemiologia do Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento em Saúde da Universidade do Algarve.
